What is Hapé (Rapéh)?
Hapé (also spelled Rapé and pronounced ha-peh) is a sacred Amazonian snuff used ceremonially by Indigenous tribes of the Amazon rainforest, particularly in Brazil and Peru. It is a finely powdered blend of sacred jungle plants, tree ashes, and most importantly, Mapacho — a powerful jungle tobacco (Nicotiana rustica) known for its deep spiritual significance. Mapacho is revered as a Grandfather Spirit, offering protection, clarity, and guidance.
Where Does Hapé Come From?
Hapé is made by various Indigenous tribes, each with their own unique recipes, prayers, and intentions. Some of the most well-known tribes include the Yawanawá, Katukina, Huni Kuin (Kaxinawá), Kuntanawa, and Nukini. The ingredients and preparation process are often passed down through generations and held in great spiritual regard connection through traditional indigenous practices.

How is Administer?
Traditionally, Hapé is blown into each nostril using a pipe made from bamboo or bone. There are two types of applicators:
Tepi – a long pipe used by a facilitator to administer to another person.
Kuripe – a self-applicator used when administering to oneself.
The act of receiving Hapé is a ceremony in itself, often preceded by intention setting, grounding, and prayers. Shamans and medicine carriers blow the powder forcefully into the nostrils, allowing the spirit of the plants to enter and work directly through the energy centers and physical body.

Does Hapé Heal?
Experience clarity, focus, and spiritual connection with traditional hapé from the Amazon rainforest.

How Does Hapé Heal?
Hapé works on physical, emotional, and spiritual levels. Blown through the nose with intention, it clears blocked energy, balances the nervous system, and helps release stored emotions. The sacred tobacco (Mapacho) carries prayers deep into the body, grounding the spirit and sharpening awareness.
✨ A Spiritual Bath and Sananga eye drops are powerful additions to a Hapé ceremony — enhancing purification, clarity, and energetic reset. Many blends are also infused with Amazonian healing herbs prepared by shamans to support deep healing and spiritual connection.
Hapé Ceremony: What to Expect
A Hapé ceremony is a sacred Amazonian practice where this traditional medicine is administered with prayer and intention. Hapé (pronounced hah-pay) is a finely ground blend of mapacho (sacred tobacco) and medicinal plant ashes prepared by Indigenous tribes of the Amazon. It is used for grounding, cleansing, protection, and connection to Spirit.

What Happens in a Ceremony 🌿
Opening Prayer – The ceremony begins with setting intentions and calling in protection.
Administration – Hapé is applied through the nose using a traditional pipe (kuripe for self-application, tepi when administered by a guide). The medicine enters quickly and begins to work within seconds.
The Experience – You may feel a rush of energy, grounding, or cleansing. Some people release through tears, yawning, or purging. Others experience calm clarity, expanded awareness, or deep stillness. Every session is unique.
Integration – After receiving hapé, you’ll have quiet time to sit with the medicine, breathe deeply, and let the plants guide you. The effects usually last 20–40 minutes, though the grounding and clarity can stay with you much longer.
Closing – The ceremony ends with gratitude, prayer, and grounding practices.
